Have you already established that humanity cannot live without conflict? From the little upsurge in the playground to the umpteenth bitter divorce to yet again a genocide, whether or not religiously inspired. We love war, disharmony and confrontation. Of course a lot of other people get injured, hurt or killed as a result of this. The latter especially. We are, perhaps, most interested in the number of deaths? Because in the depths of our soul we are relieved that it is the others who died and not us? The taste of blood has been in our mouth for thousands of years and we don't just wash that out.
And, in the end, if everyone has once again mourned the lost acquaintances, friends and relatives, then there is art. Musicals, theater, paintings, poetry, literature, film, music, ... without the dark there is no light, without war, no peace. War will be our heritage.
lyrics
Our sole and warm embrace
from blood that has been shed
wallowing in carrion
to lie among the dead
the past is our hereafter
a multitude of scars
the blanket of our apathy
induction without end
liquidated
bereft of life
unanimated
unending strife
the soulless we all praise
immersed in darkest red
we sound the crimson clarion
in conflict we were bred
incapable of peace
we march towards our doom
enduring pest
our heritage
is war

Gaerea's first release of "Unsettling Whispers" was in 2018, and since, they dared define a "black metal" niche of their own, they dared to walk a new path and stir shit up a bit in the realm of BM, this album is a masterpiece and a milestone proving that it can be done, provided the band can pull it off, and they did, oh they did! Gloomy, dark, post-BM sludgy whatever, it's Gaerea, and this one belongs in my BC collection, the end. sachavonkarl74
